I was going to use this as a wall mount tv. I read the details on the samsung website which states that it is vesa mount compatable. When i recieved the tv it had 4 holes that line up with a vesa mount but none of the standard vesa screws fit the pattern. Samsung does not know the thread pattern and as i searched the web i found numerous users who were coming up empty with an answer. I spent an hour doing searches and it appears that screws that work do not exist. Circuit city was great and provided a full refund. I think the tv will work fine as a computor monitor on a desk.

EDIT: After much research my husband determined that using the NVIDIA Control Panel a custom resolution profile could be set for the monitor that (once you click through numerous warnings against creating custom resolution profiles) would allow it to properly display the optimum resolution with the correct refresh rate. I am increasing the number of stars to 3. If you have an NVIDIA card and are not tech savvy you still may want to skip this one. Also, don't expect Samsung support to be able to tell you how to do this, according to them this is not possible and the solution is to buy a new video card.

Do not purchase the SyncMaster B2230HD if you are planning to use it as a monitor and you have an NVIDIA graphics card. I purchased this TV Monitor from a purveyor with a better price than Amazon after reading the reviews here and elsewhere online. Based on the almost entirely positive reviews I assumed this was an easy decision, but it is now a decision that I regret having made.
After spending most of two evenings on the phone with Samsung support I was ultimately told that there are compatibility issues between NVIDIA graphics cards and Samsung monitors and that the problem is not resolvable. The problem: when the PC display settings are set to the optimal and correct resolution for this display portions of the desktop and the entire task bar appear outside the viewable area of the screen with no way to adjust it. The only way to see the whole desktop and the task bar is to set the resolution to a sub-optimal setting, which results in aspect ratio issues (people's heads appear stretched sideways in photos/videos). There is no way to fix it.
So, essentially I have myself an extra TV set that I do not need and have to put my 10 year old monitor back on my desk. Next time I will stick with a monitor that is manufactured by a company that is known for its monitors and not its televisions.

I love the matte(anti-glare) and the picture in picture feature. Very easy to install, I just plug in to my laptop and Window detected the hardware. The monitor is very sharp. The picture in picture feature is great. I am able to watch TV shows while working on the computer. With this monitor, I can use the laptop screen and this monitor screen at the same time, basically I can put much more things on the screens. Especially useful for seeing multiple documents and doing copy & paste.
There are few minor con for this monitor.
1. The USB plug is on the back instead of on the side.
2. There is no height adjustment on the stand.
3. auto scan for TV signals took long time, 20-25 minutes. I have the same problem with Samsung TV as well. If a channel lost its signal, I have to redo the scanning process. I am not able to just add one channel. Samsung has this issue for years.
