This is my second Tanaka string trimmer. I was pleased to see how easy it is to reload the line. It has excellent power and starts immediately. I would recommend this trimmer to anyone who wants a dependable machine.

I waited until I had used the trimmer for a couple of weeks, so I could evaluate it properly. Overall-- I love it.
Receipt and Assembly: It arrived soon after I ordered it, and was well-packed. The directions were rather obtuse in some cases, obviously having been translated by someone who isn't very good at it. The illustrations also leave much to be desired. I had great difficulty in fitting the head-guard to the machine, until I finally did a bit of drilling.
Setting up and starting: Once I had it assembled, however, it was very easy to set up and the starting was as easy as advertised. I have never taken more than three pulls (easy ones) to prime and start it. I am using a 50:1 gas/oil mix for it.
Using: Here's where the five stars come from! I have mowed about a half-acre of tall, tough weeds with it. It vibrates a bit just after starting, but I let it warm up a bit, and when I rev it up the vibration diminishes drastically. It is well-balanced and very powerful, cutting through all types of vegetation very easily. Because of the light weight and balance, it is easy to reach over plants thay you DON'T want to mow, and cut in just about any position. I've found that just switching it off to pause work is just a flick of the switch, and it has always re-started instantly. I do recomment a couple of safety precautions: Wear goggles or safety glasses, hard shoes, and some sort of sleeve on your "trigger arm" just below the elbow, as it can get pretty warm.
Overall, I am delighted with this tool.

This trimmer is easy to start and operate. The trim line is a double line and once you get use to how you wind the line on the reel it is easy. My only problem was the orange shield that attaches at the bottom. The holes did not line up to easily put the bolt through. I had to carve down the plastic to make it work. As all gas engines, how good it turns out to be will take some time using it to really know if it keeps working as good as it does now, new out of the box. One last thing, it is powerful and quite, at least to the Poulan I was using.
